Launch of members feeds syndication

We all have our blogs to handle and since the beginning it has been quite difficult to make everyone posting on a regular basis here, which means additional works for already busy people, knowing that what is of most interest to us is our IRL meetings.

I launched few weeks ago the recruitment of some locals members to animate the club in every country where we have some active members, I got some answers and I am actually organizing this with those of you who answered.

So I thought we might use our blog to host our members' feed, and this is how it might look like:

It might be a good way to proceed in the futur, with a french RSS agregated feed for the french blog and an english one for this blog.
Let's see how it goes.

Best wishes and plans for 2006

I would like to wish you all a happy new year with a lot of personal and professional success.

This is also a new year for the club and this blog, and I have to say I've been facing some real challenge in trying to make it leave and answer any request I got from all of you in time, unfortunately I have to say I've been often very late...

Many countries, many members around the world, we are not far from being a hundred now (97 exactly) and I would love to see each country as active and participating as we are in France. But it's too much for just one, and I can't make it alone, so I thought it might be the good time to identify one member in each country who might want to take the lead on the club for his own territory, organize the monthly or bi-monthly meeting as the one we are having in France, welcome new members and answer request from local contacts etc...

I already got some proposals from Switzerland, Spain is in in progress, so feel free to leave a comment here or drop me an email if you are interested, I'll be happy to discuss this idea further more with you.

Thanks again to all of you for your participation, I hope to read you soon !

Have you heard about blooks ?

A blook is a printed and bound book, based on a blog.

Most famous ones are from 'Salam Pax: The Clandestine Diary of an Ordinary Iraqi' (Grove Press), the eye-witness accounts of the Iraq war by the blogger known as Salam Pax, 'Small Pieces Loosely Joined' (Perseus Books), Dan Gillmor's "We The Media" (O'Reilly), David Weinberger's spiritual interpretation of the Internet, actor Wil Wheaton's memoir 'Just a Geek' (O'Reilly), and Jessica Cutler's 'The Washingtonienne' (Hyperion), a novel based on her scandalous blog of the same name. More scandalous still is 'Belle de Jour: The Intimate Adventures Of A London Call Girl, by Anon' (Phoenix), which started life as an infamous blog, describing the life of a north London prostitute, and read by 15,000 a day.

It seems like more than 100 blooks have been published till now, there is now also "The Blooker Prize" that has been launched on the 10th of October 2005, the world's first literary prize for blooks, organized by Lulu, a website that enables anyone to publish and sell their own book. (well, yes, that's linked...)

The prize will reward blooks in three categories: Fiction, Non-Fiction and Comic-Blooks, it is open to blooks published anywhere by anyone, provided they are in English (Loïc, you should translate your blook in english to compete against Scoble's and Shell's one !)

Judges will be: Cory Doctorow, co-editor of BoingBoing, Robin Miller, editor-in-chief of Slashdot and Paul Jones, director of iBiblio.

The Lulu Blooker Prize will take place annually. The short list of books for the inaugural prize will be announced in March 2006 and the winner on 3 April, 2006.

Know what, there is an additional step: Flooks ! Film based on blooks ! ;o)

One year !

Today is the first birthday of the CEO Bloggers' Club.

I launched this club last sumer without precisely knowing how it will grow and how many will join us, I have to say that I've been impressed by the result and the implication of some of the members that have been either regular authors or regular comentors, so thank you for that, you made it great !

How are we going to launch year 2 ? Well, there are some new things that I'd like to initiate and to do here with you. First of all, I won't stay anymore in the back office as moderator mainly, I am going to share here informations I'll find in the blogosphere and that I will find might be of interest to all of you, so I'll be a much more regular author.

As you probably seen, I added an EVDB calendar to show informations about event coming in the world and to which you might want to participate, an "event" list of several conferences also, please feel free to ping me if you learn about any other event that you'd like to see there.
Of course, I'd like to hear about event linked in a way or another to "online communication", social software, RSS, blogging, podcasting, communication...

There will be also in the very next weeks the launch of the CEO Podcast, a podcast in which will talk about all those new communications tools/channel/trends and provide pragmatical informations, thoughts, insights, your views on how they've impacted your companies or your dailies activities.

We are now more than 90 members around the world, this is a huge "case studies" resource, so I'll be happy to interview those of you who will be interested to share their "voice" here with us, some guests will also participated in this new podcast. The format will be 15-20 minutes max interviews, I hope will be able to make it lively. I already talked about this idea with some of you that are based closer to me, if you wan't to participate/open the CEO Podcast (the name might change, nothing fixed today, more an open idea), make any suggestion in the topics you'd like to see address, please, leave a comment or send me an email at guillaume (at) bloggingplanet (dot)com.

Most of us are now back from holiday in France, I hope you all had a great summer, I also send my thoughts to those of you that might have been affected by the ravages of hurricane Katrina those last days, this is the opportunity to let you know about this initiative focused on raising awareness of and funds for relief efforts to aid those affected.

I hope you'll enjoy Year II here with us.

Articles to be published on the Club

I wanted to let you know that 2 articles are going to be published about our initiative, one in the UK and one in France. I can't give you more informations right know on the concerned titles as the information remains confidential until the publication date.

It seems that the awareness is increasing around our Club. This is a good thing, specifically because if we want to achieve our goal which is to provide and share this resource base on "corporate blogging" by CEO bloggers,we need to be as many as possible.

You've probably already realised that it is requesting time to contribute to the Club. Most of you have accepted the author invitation today, but only few are already engaged in the project and participating in the debates. Again, I know how time consuming this is...

That's why I would be happy if we could all relay the existence of our club thanks to our own blogs, to inform our visitors about our initiative and make it be an "CEO bloggers open source project" ;o). We need help, the objective is quite consistent, we already have our own blogs and business to manage, so let's give the message as far away as possible.

And let's achieve together the objective.

Help new content be more visible

Dear all,

As new members are coming on a regular basis, I 'll have to gather new introductions as I don't want to hide usefull first debates which will request your participating. As Julio said in a comment, we're all waiting for the first debates to come and not only for new members.

So I apologize in advance for the next new members who will be "gather" in introduction notes, please subscribe as soon as you receive the invitations to the author status, and feel free to begin sharing ideas and topics.

Please also apologize the fact that I might not be already exactly up to speed right now, this is my first blogger club ;o) and I have to find my way to be as proactive as you might expect me to be .... and also take care of my company ;o)

Thanks to all of you, I am sure we'll make a great job together, and this will begin in the very next hours.

Be an author of ceobloggers.com

I think the best way to get this club smart, dynamic and interesting is to give all its members the opportunity to post notes whenever you want to and to initiate debates, request opinions and so on...

Our diversity will be a strength to achieve our goal and to provide a large scope of thoughts, opinions and expertise.

For that reason, I am going to send to all of you an invitation to become author on this weblog, and I encourage each of you to answer positively to it. I am not pretending at any moment to be the only author here, many of you have much more to say than I have on the subject, so please go on.

I'd also like to say it might be time now as we are seventeen members today, to think about the architecture of this resource we are willing to create together. How are we going to organise it if we want it to be as a kind of online book ? We could perhaps imagine to use the category functionnality of Typepad as "chapters" to store the information that could be gather around specific issues...

And if so, which titles for our chapters, taking in consideration that we should be as open minded as possible and do our best not to forget any issue ... But we are at the beginning of weblogs.... Who knows where the boundaries might be ?

So what kind of segmentation ? Internal blogging, external blogging, CRM blogging, blogging with the media ...

Special thanks to CorporateBlogging

I am happy to announce our club received a specific support from the well-known corporatebloging.info blog thanks to its author, Fredrik Wackå from Sweden, who published an article on ceobloggers.com.

Many thanks Fredrik for having publishing this article on our club, we also hope you'll be the first swedish CEO to join us ! ;o)

New URL activated !

Our new URL is now working, you can use directly www.ceobloggers.com to go on the weblog. Our banner will be tomorrow at the top of the blog.
